YouTube is nothing but AI fakes now. Every public figure is being impersonated. This is how they're going to get internet passports / digital IDs. Nevermind that PGP could accomplish the same thing - that'll be ignored. Soon all public figures will be telling us about how dangerous AI impersonations are, and they'll get the public to accept the IDs.

Oh damn! I don't watch much YouTube, but the theory makes sense to me even if what you describe isn't as rampant as you say currently
I've been listening to stuff without using my google account, so its just recommending what's supposedly popular. Literally none of its recommendations aren't AI fakes. They're pretty good fakes, saying stuff particular people say and the voice is pretty good too. I can still detect the fakeness, though. Probably some percentage of the population is being fooled already, and probably a lot of non native English speakers too. They're already noticeably more realistic than they were a couple months ago. In a year... two maybe... It'll be too good to tell. Alarm bells will go off, sudden crisis, breathless news suits, the whole works.

If you must use youtube, access it with a browser and don't log in. Search for what you want instead of letting the algo feed you horseshit.
That's what I do. The algo still suggests stuff if you look under the video you're watching. Its very rarely even related to the video you're on - that's almost pure algo agenda.
It's so frustrating because I used to love feeling connected to other people on there. Now I just search in Google for videos posted before 2019 but I know most people are just chugging AI slop and loving it. It's so depressing.
I see people watching obvious scams generated by AI prompts all the time. I tell them that's a scam and they say they know but still want to watch it. Wtf, I don't understand....
I think they just say they know to save face. Even if they do eventually their brain is going to rot to the point where they can't tell. It all looks soooo creepy to me I can't stand it. Folks were telling me to use AI to read my reports because "you can't tell" like good lord yes you can and it's creepy as fuck!
These are exactly the types of people who would get gobbled up by mimics deep in the mountains. There's a reason we evolved to have an uncanny valley IYKYK
