The bigger issues:

- Nostr login wasn't working

- When people joined, their mics and video were automatically turned on

- Lots of confusion about how to turn sounds off

Other than that, I don't particularly love the app. There's lots of visual cruft (tons of icons that aren't clear, floating windows, controls that reduce information density in chat). I don't know how much of this is a carry over from upstream, but if nostr:nprofile1qyxhwumn8ghj7cnjvghxjme0qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59uq32amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wdau8gu3wv3jhvtcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qg6waehxw309ahx7um5wgh85etzv4jx2efwvdkx7aty9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtcpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctv9uq3vamnwvaz7tmgd9ehgtnwdaehgu3wd3skuep0qqsrs7xetkmms4xr5rfm944hh7dl9zekzc47vsex74fphfcu7w6956gs5806x is planning on a redesign, I would make a google meet or jitsi clone. Opinionated and minimal design is way better than having all the bells and whistles for good UX.

A video chat clone that works with nostr is awesome, and much needed, but is also a different use case from something like nests. I think nests has it perfect (in particular having people on stage vs in the audience), except it would be nice to have a "presenter" who can share his video or screen. No need for many concurrent presenters, but having an option to do video would help at times nostr:nprofile1qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qghwaehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucnpdejz7qg3waehxw309ahx7um5wghxcctwvshszxnhwden5te0vfhhxarj9ekx2cm5w4exjene9ehx2ap0qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0qqsph3c2q9yt8uckmgelu0yf7glruudvfluesqn7cuftjpwdynm2gygxd6wus

So it doesn't get obscured by my complaints: great work nostr:nprofile1qyxhwumn8ghj7cnjvghxjme0qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59uq32amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wdau8gu3wv3jhvtcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qg6waehxw309ahx7um5wgh85etzv4jx2efwvdkx7aty9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtcpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctv9uq3vamnwvaz7tmgd9ehgtnwdaehgu3wd3skuep0qqsrs7xetkmms4xr5rfm944hh7dl9zekzc47vsex74fphfcu7w6956gs5806x ! Hivetalk is an important project.

The top feedback - is this for nests? Is nests too visually complex?

Top feedback was for hivetalk which is what we used this morning

Thanks for clarification. I don’t think it’s a secret that I designed nests, so I want to hear honest feedback whenever possible so that I can improve things. I don’t always get it right πŸ˜”

Well you did a darn fine job sir. I already said this, but a way to share video/screen is the only thing I feel is missing right now.

I thought the entire point of nests was to be a twitter spaces clone, so no video?

no reason not to make nests better than spaces

You wouldn’t believe it.. but twitter spaces now have video 🀣

For real?

Yup it’s been out since February

😲

you assume video is a good thing without any proof

even if it was, there are always tradeoffs, from complexity of implementation to bandwidth requirements and perhaps even cultural effects (different kinds of people tend to prefer video over audio and vice-versa, and the same people behave differently in different media)

It's just, like, my opinion man

What do you mean β€œyou assume video is a good thing without any proof” lmao

It’s ok to like something without scientific data to back up your wants and likes.

Is that how you approach girls πŸ˜…

Chillax.

This can be added actually πŸ₯Ή
