Buying a currency to exchange it is a legitimate use of money.

Money is worth saving but also spending/exchanging.

There is a distinction here that I'm putting down that's not being picked up.

Why not say it bluntly? Are you disagreeing that buying a currency is not a legitimate use of money?

I did say it bluntly and I agree with this comment. Currency is not always money, but money is always currency. Fiat is never money.
