Don't get me wrong. That isn't aimed at anyone. I'm more pondering how even the best intentioned algorithms fail to capture the things that make someone an interesting or fun person to be around.

There are many people I find dear who believe opposite of me, or who I normally would not find pleasant for whatever reason. But for that unquantifiable reason, I enjoy every interaction with them. Other people they are friends with, and have much in common with them, may not make very good online companions for me.

I imagine it's a common experience, but sometimes when I'm tired I muse on exactly those things that are common, and find something interesting underneath.
