I wonder how much "we've always done it this way" thinking is because people don't know why or how something works, they only know that it works (or worked at some point previously).

Things I think about when I think about how ridiculous it is that I'm a telecom tech that doesn't know anything about computers or networking. Pretty much my whole job is doing what I know works, without having a clue of how or why.
