I use Wise (formerly Transferwise) for cross currency fiat payments and withdrawal fees are <$4 a batch. No fee in home currency. Payment hits in about 15 minute.

Paypal and Stripe take a lot with currency conversion snd merchant fees. And Paypal’s Vemno isn’t available in the UK.

Thats a business decision, not a technical one. Pay for immediacy is a huge money maker for companies like that.
