We've had SEO for 20 years, will AIO, Artificial Intelligence Optimization, be a thing?

Or perhaps AI is already too smart to fall into a such a simple trap.

AI optimizing AI. Sounds like digital ouroboros.

NSO

This seems a totally waste of time. AI are sufficient smart that they don't require a markdown version of your website, and if it's necessary this mean that the informative structure of the website is really poor.

Also, being a declared honeypot, this will end up like the keywords meta tag, ignored.

You posed the question; what else do you think “AIO” would be other than a table of contents?

The other way round: There is already AIP - AI Prevention. When did you prove to be human lastly? 😜

Unfortunately people are not much interested in such things, they want pain solutions, or sometime just distraction, in the simplest and fastest way possible.

What I was referring to is a growing number of web sites using captchas to protect their content from AI crawlers.

ML ops is a thing

definitely a thing. young ppl have largely abandoned google, preferring to search through chatgpt instead. in my saas business about 5% of leads now come from gpt or claude searches

(and i’m serving a very traditional, legacy industry)

Interesting sharing.

And are you monitoring what resources chatgpt scraps, and how are they used?

don't know to be honest. press releases, blog posts probably? maybe trackable with perplexity, they quote sources

EIAIO starting to sound like Old MacDonald!! Joking aside. What if web pages cease to be a thing? Or become less important? I think things will change so much that the internet will be unrecognisable in two years time, let alone ten.

Web pages will be less important because of Nostr ;)

AI will certainly reduce the classic web browsing, it's all about convenience, people are lazy.

Funny you mention the C word as my wife and I often refer to it as the biggest problem. Convenience is killing industries and ultimately - us!

Maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but it has eroded certain things, that we used to enjoy from existence.

I agree. It also created industries, but they are about diversification and easy pain reduction, two things that definitively weak us.
