Sobering.

“To really cut the deficit, Trump would either have to literally crown himself king and abolish the Constitution, or else go to Congress and get them to actually do the job the Founding Fathers gave them. But Trump can’t do either of these things. If he simply ruled by decree, a polarised nation would explode into civil war. Yet, as bleak as that sounds, it might actually be more realistic than having Congress appropriate the funds.”

Way easier than that. Treasury prints a trillion dollar coin.

And pigs fly.

Is what they said about bitcoin ... at the start ...

Loose consensus and running code is much different thing than the will of a small cabal of politicos.

Common sense plays a role. The so-called National Debt (scam) is simply inter agency debt, that has yet to be netted. You can cancel it non-interest bearing coins without changing any laws.

You been drinking MMT koolaid?

The US can’t cancel the debt. They can default, but this idea it’s “money we owe ourselves” is nonsense.

You beat me to it: MMT.

I was hoping that group would do something good. It never really happened, though.

Bitcoin fixes this.

Best thing we can do is convince them to end the Fed. That's the only chance Gov and wall st Might not get a bailout on the next recession. Only way to reduce spending is by force, no one goes through that kind of pain willingly.

Mind you they might still get a bailout even with the Fed gone, but it's a much better chance they don't.
