The issue is with the twitter concept of 'follow'. In my vernacular 'follow' is watch. Watch people's comments to see if I like what they have to say, and if I find that I like their comments most of the time, upgrade those to my curated, public list of 'follow' (if that was how it worked-- it doesn't... Most clients at this point follow (pun intended) the concept from twitter that watch is the same thing as follow. And by extension trust is the same thing as follow, when in reality, a curated list of actual trust is FAR from follow, and requires a different bucket to put it in.

Take a look at how (the client) more-speech works. A clear distinction between who you follow, who you watch (custom tabs) and who you trust.

I would like to meet people who share my values. Watch lists are just noise, follow lists are less noisy but still not a whole lot better than watch. But when you get to actual trust, you start seeing communities forming. The way I see it, 90% of the devs on nostr want to build twitter. (at least right now) They want to 'on-board' the masses. Not sure why, maybe because notoriety will make them speical or gain them wealth through more sats?

Nostr means tools for thinking people. Non thinking people are happy with twitter. Mass on-boarding is not going to happen until those are marginalized in the way the censorsed have been. It is not lost on me that this is the sort of post that looses followers... no irony in that, only follow me if what I write resonates. That will not be a massive following but may net a few trusted npubs. 😁

I appreciate your perspective.

Doubt anyone is here for notoriety or sats. People are dedicating a lot of time for nothing in return. All I see is passionate people everywhere doing what they believe is the right thing - the best thing.

I think the masses deserve to be here no matter what anyone thinks of “them”. People are not stupid / not thinking, they are just busy and have other priorities in life. My 2 sats.
