My dream nostr experience of the phone is a local relay, a crawler that downloads all relevant events from other relays through tor, and a bunch of client apps without network connection that look up from that local relay.

How far away are from this on android?

Very close. We just need the crawler app. But Citrine is a fully-fledged relay by now. Citrine might need some performance tweaks to receive 1000s of events a second, but the rest is there.

I wonder how much are you willing to pay/invest for such an app?

based

Wouldn't speed be a problem?

Speed would actually be greatly improved for apps like Amethyst that just blindly keep fetching data, not properly caching. This of course assumes that the local relay like Citrine would perform that task.

I agree. Though, why have the relay on the phone vs on a server where it can be accessed from multiple devices; phone, desktop, laptop, tv and etc?

One on each with negentropy sync.

For much of the world population this system, the phone running a relay, is the only affordable one, because they might not have a laptop at home.

It’s not an ideal situation though, because they might be paying for bandwidth or data.
