The good thing is people don't have to pay anything to use nostr but their experience wont be the same. So at the end of the day it comes down to what the individual expects from nostr, what they do to reach their expectations (lists, self-moderation, running their own relay, paying for relays, setting up their own mute lists and muted words etc etc).
In many ways that's once again just like Bitcoin. Your experience varies greatly depending on the wallets you're using, LN, main-net, running a node or not running a node.
