Evolutionarily, falcons are closer to parrots than to eagles. In fact, the biological distance between falcons and eagles is similar to that between eagles and ostriches.

Thank you, we don't talk enough about evolutionary biology. Genetic research has brought out many more examples of convergent evolution, which is a stunning thing.
