The “for you” in your question seems to invite personal anecdotes, so I’ll add one.

I don’t believe that anyone who holds a politically progressive viewpoint would adopt this term to describe their own perspective. This seems to be an adaptation of the term “woke” (which has a richer etymology) in order to flatten and perhaps pathologize it when forming criticism of left-leaning groups or individuals.

In general, I agree this is true. The ability to hear perspectives we don’t agree with requires awareness, a certain level of emotional control, and a willingness to seek common ground. I’m interested in exploring this more on nostr specifically, but I fear the expansion of our community into multiple deeply held perspectives being destructive in ways that other social media platforms have reinforced/seen previously. Feels early yet.
