Hope that no data loss πŸ™

Thanks to Allah, the drive is still working, just slow in processing data with ATA errors. So OVH copied the data from old HDD to new one and now waiting their confirmation for replacement.

Always create a backup copy on another provider, ex: s3, OVH known for that type of incidents

good idea but cost per gig?

It depends on how important the data for you, and also who is the provider, ex: I’m using s3 from Contabo, 3$ per 250gb monthly, also serves men as cdn combined with cloudflare

it actually depends on my funding and right now I can say it's as bad but thank Allah in all cases. and oh that's cheap! I will look more into it. thanks!

hey, I found that OVH has object storage too and seems it's more cheaper than contabo so what do you think about it

I’ll give it a try ✌️thanks

you are welcome and yes it's only egress which if being honest I won't need egress a lot (at least hopefully)

wanna ask you, if you were from. what will you backup from these?

bin/ dev/ home/ lib32/ libx32/ media/ opt/ root/ sbin/ sys/ usr/

boot/ etc/ lib/ lib64/ lost+found/ mnt/ proc/ run/ srv/ tmp/ var/

Nothing but /home where i put all my files, everything else are system files, you may need to backup some configuration files from /etc/{nginx|apache2|mysql|..}, i don’t do that, because I’m installing all my stuff by ansible, all saved in a GitHub repository

Already did both /home and /etc (and /root just in case) πŸ˜…

Do you have matrix/simplex chat?

No, are theses based on nostr ? Im studying nostr to see how can I make something out of it, that drives me to damus πŸ˜€

then see your nostr dms

Make sure to not include ssh keys in backup or at least make the gzip encrypted

Traffic billed separately, humm πŸ€”
