If you are using nostr.build free version, the max is 5MB, you are probably hitting this..
If you have a nostr.build account there is no limit, just your account size. It’s also all integrated with Damus and most other apps.

What’s weird is that the first attempt at uploading a 2.3MB photo (taken on iPhone) in Damus failed. Took a screenshot of that (2.2MB), and it loaded into my note just fine.
Loaded the original to nostr.build directly (no issue) and pasted the hosting link into Damus; image rendered nicely

Yes. Anything you upload to Damus, NoStrudel, Amethyst, Coracle, Snort will also go to your personal nostr.build storage account page using nip96. You can then delete or organize it. It also removed limit for file sizes, good for videos.
