They probably believe the inflation figures reported by the gov, which is the equivalent to the police doing internal investigations.

I suspect he was grasping at straws with that comment and doesn’t actually feel that way

If I can still exchange a depreciating currency for an appreciating asset that’s provably scarce, that means I’m still early.
