I wish that he wouldn’t talk like this about CSE. This standard would land most tech CEOs including Linda in jail. Phones would eventually be banned, cameras and the internet all together. That’s not a solution.
Unfortunately, even before all of those things were invented children were abused. Jailing tech CEOs won’t stop this abuse. Banning platforms won’t stop the abuse. As a society we should attack the root causes to prevent these crimes before they happen and end up online in the first place.
Yes, meta has been a horrible tech company at times. I’m not standing up for meta.
Unfortunately, a decent portion of the CSE content is self-generated by the minors. Education and awareness for parents and children before these problems occur is a better pathway forward. Safety tools are also helpful. Online child safety starts at home. If home isn’t safe that’s a different conversation. It’s not a tech providers responsibility to make homes safe. It’s not their responsibility to make the world safe.
The conversation about Telegram will land on encryption as it pertains to CSAM. I stand firm in my belief that survivors also deserve digital privacy rights and strong encryption. Violating the human rights of all to potentially prevent one type of crime is another form of abuse.
