Hop harvest time

We have two different varieties of hops growing around the homestead, Cascade and Willamette. From this initial planting to shade the house from the summer sun, the rhizomes have been transplanted all over, mostly in the food forest. Now that I have a dehydrator I am going through the effort to harvest as many as I can. In the past I would just take what I needed for a seasonal batch of beer or cider.

Nice! I have some Chinook that are just about ready

You brew beer with em? I heard you can smoke em. Gonna try that. Thinking I'm going to try a yarrow peach cider with Cascade hops too.

Yeah, will be the first time using my own fresh hops for a brew. I had some Cascades too, but they died, should replant.

Hell yeah! That feels good. What kind of breed do you make mostly? I tend to do simple pale ale grain bill just straight 2 row and a little Carmel 40 then play with hops and yeast. It gets crazy with all the variables. I haven't made any beer in couple years since I have fruit to work with now.

I make lots of different stuff with more IPAs. Hazy, Peanut butter, it's fun to experiment. We have grapes too, so wine will also be a fall project.
