the hub you can also just install anywhere you want.
IF you want an alby ACCOUNT then you need an email, but why would you want an account if you don’t want to provide such information?!
just use it the way somebody would use it who does not want provide any data! many do.
Beacuse I dont want to run a node. You have 2 options: run a node yourself (too complex for most people) or create a custodial account : privacy issue/KYC
Also - defeats purpose: I dont have to record tax for purchases on paypal, I do bitcoin. How then is lightnening better than paypal?

supposing running a lightning node was easy. I'll even let a maxi swear to me that they have the best turnkey solution ever and it'll blow me away. even still, a person who has his own node has to constantly top it off and rebalance it by doing L1 transactions to manage the channels. and there is only enough room on L1 for a small number of people to do that. there is a hard limit on how many people are able to use lightning without going through a custodian. the limit is smaller than the number of people in the world who want to use bitcoin without a custodian.
