looking for feedback on Duck Duck Go’s paid tier. VPN seems to work well. curious how this personal data scrub is going to pan out.

suppose this is an #asknostr

I have no use for a VPN, but the personal information removal might be interesting. What do you supply? Name, email, phone or something else?

name and address (&prev addresses). I assume there’s some regulation in place here where if requests are properly submitted these data harvesting companies are required to comply with removal. Duck Duck Go seems to have automated the process and the paid subscription stays on top of it.

I always found it cheaper to Route through my own VPN proxy server instead of paying for a service. It's the pay once, slightly more versus smaller perpetual payment model. Though more technical knowledge is also neccessary.

as for "215 Records found" DDG doesn't own those servers so they can't 'scrub' anything. all they could do is create an anonymized access point for you from this point on. those 30 sites still have your info.
