This is amazing news if it pans out. Upgrading the blockchain with quantum resistant encryption is desperately needed, and we're better off doing it as soon as possible so it's nothing everyone is scrambling to do when quantum computing is on our doorstep.

it is indeed all hype. however, it is important to take steps towards a quantum resistant future.
The steps are being made by the researchers developing proper post quantum cryptography.
