The culture in this place is completely different

It turns out it was, for the most part, algorithms making us feel like shit and hating on each other.

There are no algorithms here, you are in control.

And downstream from that is that we can have civil and enjoyable relationships.

I’m glad you’re here; you are already making this place better.

Welcome 🧡

I guess you are right, I feel like everybody on the network came to say hi and help!

The algorythms are making us hating each others? Probably because it draws a line and let you pick a side!

#nostr is a great place

Not the algorithms. It’s ignorance and stupidity in a growing number of people.

algorithms controlled by a centralized provider try to fuel outrage/division to keep you engaged/stressed/looking

that way they get to serve more ads and make more money

nostr is diff. algorithms will come, but you’ll always have choice of which ones you want to use so they will be designed to serve your goals

The problem is anytime you talk about ways to moderate content (which is what filtering algorithms are) people on Nostr yell “CENSORSHIP” and the conversation goes nowhere.

People need to realize that bottom-up content moderation isn’t censorship.

Case and point is the PR for “NIP-69” which simply defines a standardized vocabulary for NIP-36 & NIP-56 and people are pushing back on it. They openly say it worries them, but can’t describe exactly what the problem is. That’s just fear. If they give it some thought they’ll see bottom-up isn’t censorship…

not following someone is censorship 🤡

Stop censoring me and start following me. 😂

I followed you Hawk 💫

Welcome Cassie
