⚡️🚨ALERT: Bybit confirms a hack that emptied its ETH cold wallet ($1.4 billion).

🔍 What happened:

-A transaction was signed from their ETH cold wallet to their warm wallet.

-The interface displayed a correct address, but the actual transaction modified the logic of the smart contract.

-The signatories validated without seeing that the hacker was taking control of the cold wallet.

- All ETH were transferred to an unknown address.

CEO Bybit reassures his users: no other wallet is affected and withdrawals are working normally.

Wait, what ??

It is not possible to "change the smart contract logic" on Ethereum !

What really happened:

One of the transaction arguments was fraudulently changed BEFORE signing, and they simply didn't check what they'd signed before transmitting to the network. 🤦
