Indeed, I just checked and you can get normal shaped buttons carved from bone and horn as well. I was only thinking of the long type with one hole but fully normal butthons... out of animal also...

Sticking with the animal theme would be awesome. The horn type might blend in too much. Bone would stand out more. The hook type buttons I have are metal but they look ok with it.

I think I'll see if I can track down a bone one locally. I really like that concept.
that silver button looks pretty awesome though, just sayin'.
I ended up making a long one out of deer antler. Thank you for the suggestion.
It just seemed the right thing with the animal theming to stick with animal materials. I'd suggest to stick with nylon for the stitching though, gut based fibres are pretty hard to come by.
I avoided stitching. The edges are a little rough but oh well. I like it.
I can't quite comprehend this picture. Where is the buttonhole?
There isn't one, the leather loop goes around the antler piece
oh, i see. hole is the loop. Probably makes more sense that way, you are the more experienced stitcher :D
Oh I doubt that 😂 I make everything up as I go.
really. Ok I first started playing with crochet hooks, knitting needles and sewing needles at age 7 or so, but i've never seen a way to make good money compared to my tech troubleshooting or programming skills. People are retarded and dgaf about their clothes, and it shows, the hilarity of the butts in jeans is a prime example. so ugly. so. fuckin. ugly. The decline has got so bad these days it's hard to find tracksuit pants that obey the standard pants cut pattern anymore. They seem to be designed for fatasses.
Yeah, I'm more of a skill collector, so I never get really good at anything but I'm mediocre at all sorts of stuff. I totally agree on the clothing ugliness. Women's clothing departments are a nighgmare, everything changes every 3 months... and quality is hard to find. The "everything is replaceable" economy creates so much unnecessary waste. I'm happy if I can find something I like, that is of repairable quality. That's about as far as my textile skills stretch though.
It's humble work but someone's gotta do it. If it's any consolation, the mind that gives you rock solid computer code is similar to the one that knits a good jumper. Detail oriented and patient.
Too many people are lost in the vague and wanting their answers last week. None of these things make for a healthy society.
That is good to know. Those are the type to lead by example and create meaningful change. There is a shift happening & it may be slow but I have a lot of faith that humanity will turn things around in the next couple generations. The influx of people to things like homeschooling, gig work, and rural living really allude to just how discontent the populous truly is with their lifestyle, even if they don't fully realize the whole scope of it yet.
Rite on! ✊🏽 I like it too!
