Yes I have had that happen to me too, and normally the link is a lot longer. But I checked and made sure it was in gif format. Maybe it’s just that Nostr and all these clients are still working out little bugs. I’ll be patient.

True, pretty sure I convert webp to jpg since it is not supported in Damus yet.
