Glad to hear your vision is improving! What are you doing/not doing to recover from the B1 deficiency?
Discussion
Sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds, b-complex pills... though those never seem to have enough in them, when I can I'm gonna get a big jar of hard to find pure B1. I'm not sure if yeast extract is a good source? That would be a bit easier to get hold of.
Part of the problem is that B1's most readily available only as an additive in mainly wheat flour based products, which I have never eaten much of, and explains how I ended up in this pickle, piling a litre of beer a day on top of it, which is well known to burn B vitamins in general.
I don't know what else is involved but Wernicke-Korsakoff's main cause is B1 deficiency, and the fact I am getting fairly chronic double vision says that I've probably already got a thinning of hippocampus tissue already starting too. I certainly am noticing more and more how my memory is fucked. It is fortunate that I am getting a severe symptom that directly interferes with my ability to work otherwise I might keep on going until I forget how to write code otherwise.
Thanks, I’m always looking for information on eye care & health.
Yeah, people always talk about beta carotene and vitamin A but B1 is important too, because it helps maintain the function of the nerves. The condition I have been developing is basically atrophy of nerve tissue.
It is making the process of recovery more difficult because memory is the thing that one needs to print into to get lasting changes, and they transit through and depend on the hippocampus, which is precisely what is damaged. The pathway from the optic nerves to the back brain is also affected, the focus problem is from weak signalling to the nerves that operate the direction of the eyes and the focus pull.
It's not helping that I'm not sleeping either. That's happening because I'm nervous and ... yeah anyhow... take care of you Thiamine intake, you don't want Wernicke-Korsakoff. It's like losing vision in both senses at the same time.
