We are moving away from simple likes. The goal is to make meaningful reactions every time. Simple like and thumbs up are quite useless.

Maybe better to enable a user to switch like notifications on/off. Some of us don't get a lot of love so for us a like is a great way to discover new people.
I can see that for some users it could quickly become an annoyance.
It won't change notifications. We are just focusing more into reactions that have meaning. 🚀👀🤑😎😁 are much better than ♥️
