Why do so many of our stories have villains who:

- want to change the world or disrupt the current order

- are extremely clever and resourceful

- do not respect authority or laws

- live self-sufficiently

- use pseudonyms

- invent and manufacture new tools

Is this what makes a bad person: a threat to the regime?
