Why do so many of our stories have villains who:

- want to change the world or disrupt the current order

- are extremely clever and resourceful

- do not respect authority or laws

- live self-sufficiently

- use pseudonyms

- invent and manufacture new tools

Is this what makes a bad person: a threat to the regime?

History is written by the victors

As I age, I find myself more sympathetic to the villains. Aside from mass murder, many are relatable and actually make a good point.

Mass murder seems to be cool too.

Oh sorry, I’m older than you. You just wait. You’ll see.

We live in a world of antivillains.

A few things:

1. Chaos is the natural order.

2. Many aren't willing to accept the sacrifices that are needed for progression.

3. There is such a thing as "necessary evil." It gives good-hearted people purpose.

Yes.

Yes.

No. Necessary is necessary. Evil is evil. Separate.

Agree to disagree fren.

We agree. Doing what is necessary is necessary. It may be uncomfortable. A very sick dog needs to be brought to the vet. It is heart wrenching but necessary. Takes strength and love.

If it’s evil to do it, it’s wrong and thus not necessary. This is how people sell their souls, lose themselves, stare too deeply into the abyss, become exactly that which they are trying to defeat etc. etc. etc. I know this because of history.

Slippery and avoidable slope.

Holy shit lol

Propoganda runs deep. You control a population by driving home ideas to keep them in line through stories and religion.
