That is why we need to separate money from state and decentralize our money. It will give control back to the people, which will realign incentives of the new entities.

We would pay banks to hold our funds for security, earn real interest rates if they rehypothicate the funds and pay real interest on loans. These loans could only be given if the bank actually had the money. Banks would have to de-risk as there would be no bail out if an issue occurs. People would require a bank to be responsible or they would use their competition or self custody. No longer would we have to beat inflation. Banks would be forced to show proof of reserves.

Eh not entirely true. That’ll only be the case in a utopian hyperbitcoinized world. I hope that happens but we probably won’t even live to see it. Until then banks and exchanges will continue.
