Funny that Darkman reminded you of Lawnmower Man—I actually think of that one too whenever Darkman comes to mind.

I watched Lawnmower Man 2 as a kid and loved it. A while back, I wanted to revisit it, but accidentally ended up watching the first Lawnmower Man instead. It was okay, but I didn’t really like it. If I’m remembering correctly, it was such a mess that even Stephen King didn't want to have to do anything with it. He actually sued to have his name removed from the credits—and he won. That says a lot 😂

Eventually, I did get around to rewatching Lawnmower Man 2 and surprisingly, I still liked it—just like I did as a kid. The story is absolute trash, super childish 😂, but for some reason (maybe pure nostalgia), I don’t feel like dissing it the way I did with Darkman.

Maybe it’s one of those forgotten sequels that even the creators pretend doesn’t exist. I mean, I found it on YouTube and no one had bothered to claim copyright on it. I bet you can still find it there 🤣

(One fun fact: The director, Farhad Mann is of Iranian descent and I don't know of any successful movie by him.)

Still, I gotta admit—I enjoyed it. I know no one else would ever want to sit through it with me, but those scenes where he brings his computer back to life hit me the same way the Darkman lab rebuild does. It’s got that “rise from the ashes” vibe that gets me every time. (And actually that's what makes me think of Darkman when I think about it.)

Weirdly enough, Lawnmower Man 2 is one of those rare cases where I actually prefer the sequel over the original.

What's your take on Lawnmower Man?

Interesting concept, cheesy movie, but still had some thought provoking moments.
