Technical frens - I see relays seeming to come and go offline as kind of a constant, random stream. What’s causes this? What are the determining factors for a relay staying up or crashing?

I’m technical, but I have not read up on relays. I’m interested in this also. I’m connected to a lot of relays and I don’t believe I’ve ever seen all of them on at the same time.
I have two paid relays and whittled down my free relays to abot 10. Less is more. Find good relays that work for your location and don’t be afraid to pay for a few.
