In fact, in the Greek version of the Bible, the Septuagint (LXX), the name Joshua is spelled Jesus. Indeed, the name Joshua is Hebrew form of Jesus' name. You are right, Joshua obeyed God's commandments in everything, and Jesus, the Greater Joshua we might call Him, did so as well, and set an example for us all to follow.
