The green socialist government in Germany has of course thrown up a smoke bomb with the introduction of drastic border controls in order to limit the rise of the right. But it is by no means willing to address the migration problem. Incidentally, with this decision, Germany is executing the so-called Schengen Agreement, the only real raison d'être of the European Union, with a handshake. There is a sense of panic in the EU capitals as both the Ukraine war is lost and the fiscal situation worsens.
