ffmpeg can do a better job than this if you are pulling and pushing that after conversion. it's usually better if you don't convert at all, and let the streaming server handle that part.

Something is definitely wrong with they way these videos are encoded.
vp8 is better for low bandwidth/small stuff
I use Adobe Media encoder and choose the Twitter 720p default encoding, it usually produces the best results and keeps the file size low.
well, i'm just gonna say that you can do this without buying some adobe thing. ffmpeg is very solid

Scrolling through some other recent ones they look fine. I know I've seen a couple others like this in the past though.
