I was asking myself a similar Q the other day: what’s the different between a photographer and some who takes photos? My answer (not fully formed yet) was that the photographer takes photos with intention with the end goal of trying to tell story. For someone who takes photos it’s usually an afterthought.

I guess this could apply to a professional as they could be shooting be they were commissioned or end project/goal

As nostr:npub1q8gth72n0mcl6rwls905rsvfvuu0dgaq7cq028rc9d7c3ygnp4xq84awvk mentioned, it’s someone that gets paid for making photographs. In any form, I suppose. So any income level from doing it may make one a “professional” but perception is everything 🫠
