I wasn't following very many users in the beginning, and then I made the mistake of just following back the 1000ish npubs that were following me. A few months ago I cleaned out my follow list and since then I've been more selective about who I follow. Occasionally I unfollow somebody who starts posting garbage. The upside of having a high signal quality follow list besides a better feed is that you can suggest your follow list to new users to get them started.
