Very unpopular opinion. If your child isn't gonna be a doctor or lawyer, they don't need college. Don't put you child in debt even before they get out of the gate.. we in 2023 college is clearly a scam..

Also tell your child to lie on their CV. I wasted 4 years to get my degree and honestly no employer has ever checked 😂

I feel robbed. If someone had only told me about btc in 2015 instead of being pushed to go to university.

i feel this.

Same

Need to create a “university is a scam” nostr community lmao 😂

Well wait tbf my friend told me about Bitcoin in college ~2012

First time I heard of btc was in 2017 when my neighbour at party told me he was lining btc. And I was like sounds like a scam.

Wasn’t til late 2019 I finally started learning about as I got more interested in Austrian economics and computer science.

*mining btc

everyone has his own path🤙🤙 slowly but surely🫂

Right right. So true.

You were supposed to be like “ommmmggggg you are on og broo” noh i ignored it for almost a decade

School boy error

Well you live and learn.

I went to community College in Florida with no high school diploma.. my sister told me how to do it but I never completed my course

I went to highly ranked university in the UK. Was probably punching above my intellect level but I passed.

When I graduated I never got any interviews from any opportunities I applied to. So I have spent last few years helping at small tech startups. Pay is not the best but sure is a lot of fun and gets my creativity juices pumping.

😂😂 yeah it’s all a game anyways

There’s a good meme on this I saw yesterday.

Immigration programs do check those creds

Most HR people I have met rarely do any due diligence. 😂

I guess it’s cheaper to interview a candidate 7 different times (no joke) and have them on probation for 3 months.

Community college is a pretty good value.

I'm opposed to go to community College for a 6 month course of something or something like that.

And I'm looking for academia ppl here 🤦‍♂️

I used to teach. nostr:npub19mun7qwdyjf7qs3456u8kyxncjn5u2n7klpu4utgy68k4aenzj6synjnft has authored many books taught in academia

You are on telehram right?

I've posted in the groupe but nobody answered.

May I DM in telegram?

Sure!

I've send it here in dm thanks

...and yet I did not, myself, attend college. Getting a job as a programmer at 18 (in 1970) was not hard for me; and no employer has ever cared about my academic history.

I admire you a lot. But in some countries university in the only path to reach certain goals

Most impressive!

Nah, just the luck of good timing. 1952 was a great year to be born for someone in my field.

I need to aplly with a research proposal.

And I thought #nostr is an interestimg topic.

So I have to spin up a proposal wich covers both management and nostr.

I need someone to read my first draft and give me feedback.

Plz repost this.

awesome

👋😉

May I DM ?

What about engineers, and other things?

Those fall in the same category. Science anything

I’m lucky I got a scholarship…. to do my masters in electrical engineering which I barely ever use

Basically what I have learned. I am only 25 and graduated when I was 22. Is that it’s not about what you know or your experience.

It’s all about who you know. Experience helps you meet more people and network. I really believe networking is most important skill more than anything when it comes to your career. At least this has been what I have observed when I compare myself to group of friends I went to school with.

Exactly my friend in this world it's not what you know it's who you know 100%

Yep. And ppl born into money have the best networks

Let me in bro.. I been knocking and they be ignoring. It's so annoying haha

Yeh I never really understood this til a few years ago.

Some young adults just have their path laid out for them because of their parents networks.

It’s all a game at the end of the day. You live and learn. It’s just annoying that some people get short cuts.

I started filing my own taxes when I was 15. Stuck with it, and grew from there. I feel like I’m semi-retired, because I’m not a wage slave, I’m my own boss, and I enjoy what I do. Since I set my own pay and hours, I can focus on other things more important than work like my faith, family or #gardening and all that combined allows me to be a more interesting and well rounded person.

I have good emotional health, because I don’t feel like a cog in their machine. What I do actually increases the GDP. Other people shuffle papers around offices all day. All that does is kill trees. I create tangible things, and enrich others and when I do that it enriches my mind. Every day is a new adventure.

I’m an #autodidact so I’ll never stop learning. I’m learning right now. I can learn on nostr, I can learn from a conversation at a restaurant. If you think you need just 4-6 years of higher education, you’re probably a boring person that needs to touch grass.

Appeal to authority is fallacy. Always has been, but some people forgot. If you need an embossed piece of paper and crushing debt to feel important, more power to ya!

Our colleges are mostly "free", but same statement. Given how badly we seek handworkers and will pay whatever, having a degree isn't a given win over career.

Couldn’t agree more!!
