Is there an error in this #Español posting by ROC Vice President @ChingteLai?

As far as I know, the Spanish for President of Paraguay is "El Presidente de Paraguay", not "El Presidente 'del' Paraguay". "Del" is the usage after the merger of de and el, where "de" is the English word "of" and "el" is the English word "the" (or la for the feminine).

So you could say "El Presidente de Paraguay" or"El Presidente de la República del Paraguay". There doesn't seem to be a use for "El Presidente 'del' Paraguay".

Me pregunto si algún hispanohablante nativo puede verificar que mi comprensión gramatical de lo anterior es correcta. (I wonder if any native Spanish speakers can verify that my grammatical understanding of the above is correct.)

What about Republica del Paraguay? Should be the same concern, but it's the official name. Doesn't seem crazy to replace Republica with Presidente... To me 😅

Paraguay is most likely El Paraguay.
