I have a rooftop tent on an off road trailer, on a rack that opens up to 96 x 78 inches. We are family of six and in the fall and spring we use a diesel heater. I take my boys sometimes in the winter and it’s cold, and the diesel heater is great. Ive never had any luck with electric. Before kids, I always used a 2 man tent and the body heat and good bags were always enough. My buddy is an outfitter and when I go out with him, he uses a canvas tent that is quite big and he uses a wood stove. On these trips, we are in camp for longer periods and use it as a base camp. Personally, I like to move around a lot, that’s why we have the off road trail, rtt, and diesel heater. I barely have to use it though cause there are a lot of us in the tent, and I usually have a fire going in the morning before the rest crawl out of bed on those cold days.

Thank you!! Sounds like you’ve had some fun adventures! Yep this would be more permanent base camp for stay. 2-5 nights. I’ve been thinking about the diesel just because it’s all night, with somewhat temp control. I have a propane heater but my concern is CO2.
I’ll be out in the elements all day and will be up super early on little rest most trips. Would like the nights to be comfortable.
What was the typical burn time(hours) of the stove?
I’d say around 6 hours.
