Once you're following your POIs, it's easy to know who is a scammer.
The point is you dont know all your future POIs :-)
I've also found them by seeing their content reposted (so I follow from that)
And if they are new, you can usually tell it's them by the posts they make.
Finally if it is a friend or known person, meet them face to face. That's the best way to do even Signal, SimpleX etc. too.

That was the point .. how do you know what is the right DNS for popular accounts .. who have many imposters ..
Usually the websites of influencers are known (Preston has TheInvestorPodcast, Lyn has her blog...). It is known Odell runs Werunbtc. So if he proves access to that site thats a good clue. He could be hacked certainly, but at least is a good proof of identity.

Well, even if you are not popular, you can have your site to show something or present yourselt and use it as your proof of identity. These days you can have a site for $10 /year.

You can create a file /.well-known/nostr.json on your site and put your pubkey there:

Pubkey must be in hex, not 'npub' form - use nak.nostr.com to convert.
Then you put _@yoursite.com to your profile into NIP-05 field.

Kinda, if u use Nostrudel, it shows hex number of every acc. I guess there is no option of unlimited colors, so probablly there will be some acc of same colors, but it deffinitly minimize a chance, that a scammer with fake acc will have same color as a main acc.
