It’s a tough debate. I think it’s best better feature is because it’s auditable. Because if it was scarce but not auditable then it would outcompete like gold does to silver, but it wouldn’t trounce it. If there was a gold mirror that was auditable then that is already 10x better than gold.
Of course scarcity means half life of infinity vs 30 years, so arguably infinitely better. Still without audibility it’s a tough one.
Transportability is also maybe better than scarcity. Gold basically isn’t transportable at scale. Imagine the opposite. Imagine something that could not be transported. A rock that was so heavy you couldn’t move it. Gold is 100x better than that. Compared to bitcoin, relatively, gold is not transportable.
I think scarcity is Bitcoins 2nd or 3rd best attribute when compared to gold. Bitcoin could thrive with same scarcity as gold assuming it had other attributes.
