A thought for my #Austriches who have bitcoin in a SMSF.

I was think today about the possibility of timelocking bitcoin held in an smsf until the approximate time when you would be able to access it. This would physically prevent you from spending or sending that bitcoin before then. Would also make it impossible for you to be forced to transfer to a custodian if such a law was passed. Could create an interesting dynamic particularly if unrealised capital gains laws pass.

Any thoughts on this?

Good idea because I see all retirement funds as an easy attack vector. I expect compulsory allocations to government bonds to come so your solution would work in that case.

I think its also a good idea to have an allocation outside retirement funds to manage this risk.

Yes I do not trust the retirement funds at all.

Its the easiest pot of money for the government to go after. Most do not even really think of it as their money. Especially young people.
