I believe it is to discourage people from having kids. I’m not sure as to the “why” though 🤔

It’s not like all expenses come at once. You wouldn’t write an article “want to live? That’ll be 500k” to throw in housing, education, bills, travel in there. This stuff is all gradual over time and can be lowered depending on your lifestyle choices … but they throw it all in for sensational headlines I guess

Exactly. And it’s always written about a couple living in the most expensive city, in the downtown core, or leafy suburb, who wants to maintain the same lifestyle they had in their twenties.

That’s probably who it’s meant to discourage 🤣

Because the fewer people there are, and the looser their ties to family and other meaningful community, the easier they are to control

That’s exactly what the darker/conspiratorial side of my brain thought too……sometimes I like to believe evil like this doesn’t exist…..
