On a long time horizon (20-30 years) I think fusion will naturally replace fission, but SMR's are ready to go now and can sling shot human prosperity and health back to where it should be much quicker. Everything has trade offs and risks, but the rewards far outweigh both and will save many lives. All that is blocking us is antiquated laws and capital being locked up in the wrong hands, both are being corrected right now.

Fossil future by Alex Epstein is a great book about energy and human flourishing in general, but goes into nuclear as well. I met Alex at a bitcoin conference in 2021 and he's a based dude!
