A short tale of beauty and reconciliation

Roland was a knight known throughout the kingdom for his beauty and prowess in battle. But behind his shining armor lay a wounded heart. His mother, the fairest in the land, had died young, and his father, a skilled blacksmith, had become distant and cold with her passing. Roland longed for his father's love and approval, but it seemed out of reach.

One day, during a fierce battle, Roland was gravely injured and carried back to the castle on a stretcher. His father, hearing of his son's plight, rushed to the infirmary and saw his son broken and hurting.

With tears in his eyes, Roland's father realized he had been wrong to shut out the world and promised to make him a suit of armor that was not only the most beautiful but also the strongest in the kingdom. He spent long hours at the forge, crafting a masterpiece that would protect his son from harm.

When Roland recovered and donned the new armor, he felt invincible. He continued to serve as a knight, but now with a renewed sense of purpose and a heart filled with love for his father.

Roland often visited his father at the forge, and he shared stories of his adventures. And while Roland's mother's memory lived on in the beauty and strength of her son, Roland and his father, now united by love, continued to serve the kingdom with honor and valor for many years to come.

I think AI is an incredible tool to use for brainstorming and ideation. It is great to use to kickstart something or get out of a rut, but I don't think it does well to piece together entire narratives.

The short story in the note below is 95% written by AI. I gave it a jumping off point and it spit out a storyline. I went through a couple drafts with AI to clear out inconsistencies. For example, in an early draft, the blacksmith goes to his injured son on the battlefield which doesn't make sense, so I told it what should have happened instead.

As it is, AI tells stories like a toddler. They can tell you lots about a really cool dragon! a princess! she loves peaches! a knight! he has laser eyes! he is best friends with the dragon!

The story can have a beginning, middle and end but it might not all fit together.

Regardless, it is a TON of fun to play around with and I think it makes it's human users better storytellers. Whether or not it will beat us remains to be seen.
