People are selfish, it's in their blood. That's why I like Bitcoin so much. It's made for selfish people who, in their desire to win, help everyone else. They aren't driven by a desire to help and compassion, they are driven by a desire to profit. Humans are like that, and that quality of theirs is used to the best of their ability.
