If you watch the Mayday Air Disaster show, you realize quickly that there are a million reasons why a commercial aircraft can fall out of the sky at any moment, and not a single thing anyone can do about it. One tiny mistake - a pilot error, procedural error, a missed moment, an unsaid comment, a tiny lapse in attention, an electrical fire, or a million other things.. and you’re dead. The things we tell ourselves to pretend that’s not the case… 😬

Yet, somehow, flying is still generally very safe.

Flying feels safe. So did fiat.

One missed signal, one silent fault,

and you’re freefalling through the illusion of control.

Bitcoin doesn’t need autopilot — it just works.

Yet it is "is the safest form of transportation, with an average annual injury rate of just 0.01 injuries per 100 million passenger miles traveled." Makes me wonder what we pretend about other forms of transport.

So safe that pilots stall a perfectly functional aircraft just because they didn’t get enough sleep 🤦‍♂️
