I meant the sheer amount of solar panels needed to power a miner where I live. The amount of sun exposure varies quite a bit during the day. And then you have to double the amount of solar panels to account for the night, plus a battery to store the excess energy (needed for the night). Whereas hydro is just on 24/7

I live off grid and all my electricity is from solar. you're talking like 70k USD in infrastructure investment to just run a single S21.

but if you have the setup anyway and some computers lying around,

yeah I have hosted miners instead since running an asic at home is not really an option.

Right. Instead of just reimbursing the cost of the miner, you need to reimburse the cost of the solar setup.

Meanwhile it only took 2 winters to reimburse the cost of my miner. And then some
