Train yourself in managing your desires, rather than merely amassing knowledge.

The old adage, "knowledge is power," is one that I challenge. While knowledge can certainly offer an advantage, the real source of power lies in controlling desires. The one who masters the desires of others effectively wields power over them.

Acquiring knowledge can indeed fuel your aspirations, but it's crucial to keep a firm rein on these desires. Devotees of Bitcoin instinctively understand this, for if you pursue anything other than Bitcoin - whether it's quick riches, fame, or material possessions - you risk losing sight of your true aim.

Numerous Bitcoin veterans have faltered because their ambitions lay elsewhere. What they should have yearned for was securing their future. This involves careful planning, prudent saving, and establishing a meaningful legacy.

Thus, it's not about collecting a reservoir of knowledge or chasing immediate gratification. Instead, power lies in fostering the right desires and utilizing knowledge as a tool to manage them efficiently. By doing so, we not only ensure our individual success, but we also help create a better place for everyone.

Still, I'd love to train my desires... Freud tho 'adjusted difficulty' regarding our chance to do so... Since our most important desires are unknown (aka unconscious) to us. Still, Freud and Bitcoin teach us the lowest of all time preferences possible ...

Well said, and so true. Mastering desires is key to a happy, successful life.

know thyself, practice the socratic dialectic on your own thoughts, question your own thinking like Socrates questions the thinking of those around him. that is how knowledge is most powerful.

Great post Jimmy. Everyone (especially those with a massive stash) should read The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. Protecting wealth a completely different skill than amassing it.

Quite right, but be ever so careful. You are not separate from desire. You are desire. If desire goes, what happens?

Knowledge is not powerโ€ฆit is POTENTIAL power. Knowing what to do but not doing it is the same as if you didnโ€™t know what to do. It is the combination of knowledge and correct action that gives you power.

The best tool at our disposal for such a self-training is mindful meditation.

The best investment of my time, besides learning what is money, was discovering the place where all my thoughts appear. The base layer of our mind. The Operating System that allows our mind to create.

Thoughts are like processes that take over our entire mind and hide the existence of this lower layer of cognition. Once I rediscovered this, thoughts are losing much of their power to influence my mind decisions. Low time preference is coming more naturally to me now.
